Dig Bandcamp like a record shop.
Crate is a free add-on for Bandcamp. Pick the genres you dig – house, techno, disco or any tag you like – and get every new release in one fast list you can flick through, preview and buy from.
Every new release, one list.
Open Bandcamp, tap the green CRATE button, and you get this: the newest releases in your genres, newest first, with a big player at the top. Skim the previews, skip what you don’t like, and keep what you do.
Illustration with made-up releases. In Crate you see real ones, straight from Bandcamp.
Your genres, newest first
Starts with house, deep house, jackin, techno, soulful, disco, garage and more. Add any Bandcamp tag you like, or remove the ones you don’t buy.
Preview without clicking around
Play any release or single track from the list. Skip moves straight on to the next one, so you can get through a hundred releases in a sitting.
Find new labels, then keep up with them
Tap + Watch on any label or artist and their new releases show up in Crate every time you open it.
Wishlist and cart in one click
♡ saves a release to your own Bandcamp wishlist. Buy adds a release or a single track to the label’s cart without opening a new tab.
Search the whole of Bandcamp
Look up any artist, label, release or track, and open a label’s full catalogue in the same list.
Laptop and phone
Works in Safari on Mac, iPhone and iPad, and in Chrome, Edge and Firefox. Your genres and watch list can be copied between devices.
Install Crate
Crate runs inside your browser using a free helper app that lets small add-ons work on websites. It takes about five minutes, once.
Pick your device:
- Get the free Userscripts app
Install Userscripts from the Mac App Store and open it once.
- Switch it on in Safari
Safari → Settings → Extensions, tick Userscripts. When asked, allow it on bandcamp.com (choose “Always allow on every website” or allow Bandcamp sites).
- Install Crate
Click the button. Safari shows the add-on’s code; click the Userscripts icon in the toolbar and choose Install.
Install Crate
- Get the free Tampermonkey extension
Add Tampermonkey from your browser’s extension store.
- Chrome and Edge only: allow user scripts
Open chrome://extensions (or edge://extensions), click Details under Tampermonkey and switch on Allow User Scripts.
- Install Crate
Click the button. Tampermonkey opens an install screen; click Install.
Install Crate
- Get the free Userscripts app
Install Userscripts from the App Store. Open it, tap Set Userscripts Directory and pick a folder, for example On My iPhone.
- Switch it on in Safari
Settings → Apps → Safari → Extensions → Userscripts. Turn on Allow Extension and set Other Websites to Allow.
- Install Crate
Tap the button in Safari. Then tap the page-menu icon at the left of the address bar, choose Userscripts, and tap Install.
Install Crate
Then open bandcamp.com and tap the green CRATE button in the bottom-right corner.
Log in to Bandcamp in the same browser to use the wishlist and cart. Being logged in to the Bandcamp app doesn’t count, because the browser keeps its own login.
Questions
Is it really free?
Yes. No account, no subscription and no ads, just your email to get it. If it saves you time digging, the best thanks is checking out the music on SiFi Music.
Does it collect my data?
No. Crate only runs on Bandcamp, talks only to Bandcamp, and keeps your genres, watch list and skips in your own browser. Crate itself sends nothing to SiFi Music or anyone else. The only thing we get is the email you enter to download it.
Does it buy anything for me?
Never. Buy only adds things to a label’s Bandcamp cart. You check out and pay on Bandcamp yourself, and you can take items back out from inside Crate.
How do updates work?
Tampermonkey checks for new versions on its own. In Userscripts, open the extension and use its update button. Your settings carry over.
Something stopped working
Bandcamp changes its site from time to time and parts of Crate may need a fix. Get in touch at info@sifimusic.com and say what happened.
Is this made by Bandcamp?
No. Crate is an independent add-on made by SiFi Music. It isn’t affiliated with or endorsed by Bandcamp. Bandcamp is a trademark of its owners.
